Welcome to Mark my Words
Hi, I’m Mark
After a life time working in property and retail, I’m now doing what I love doing best – writing. If anything, I’m writing in too many genres and styles right now but whatever – it’s all me and my words.
Since I started writing seriously, an extract from my main work-in-progress Final Approach: My Book of Airports (a book about so much more than just airports) has won me a trip to Sydney and another has appeared in the respected literary magazine Moxy. Other extracts have been both short- and long-listed in the Fish Short Memoir Prize. My eulogy to David Bowie was also long-listed by Fish.
I have written a number of short stories and pieces of creative non-fiction which have been published online and in print.
During lockdown I wrote a book for local children, Brian the Barrington Bear, illustrated by Alice Jowitt, which was very well received so I self-published it and it is now available in audio and eBook forms as well as hard copy.
Alice and I may do a sequel, but in the meantime I hope Final Approach: My Book of Airports will find its way home to a wider public!
